WY Man Fights For Millions
The family of Peter Brophy, a 34 year old man originally form Ireland, has returned to court this year to attempt to collect the $18,069,257 they were originally awarded after a Nebraska trucking company, Werner Enterprises Inc., was involved in a trucking accident that caused Peter brain damage and force to be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
In July 2006, Peter was driving his English imported right hand drive 1993 BMW with four friends in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It was here when a tractor trailer, owned by Werner Enterprises Inc., attempted to leave the same highway Peter was traveling on. In the process of leaving the highway, the right front wheel of the tractor trailer made contact with the left rear wheel of Peter’s BMW. This caused Peter’s car to spin out of control across the highway and into another tractor trailer. Despite the fact Peter was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision, he was still thrown into the windshield of his vehicle. The accident left Peter with severe brain damage and now must use a wheelchair. Peter has married and had four children.
